DR. STEVE BAKO
NEUROSTRUCTURAL CHIROPRACTOR
Toggle Recoil | Thompson | Torque Release | Webster
DR. BAKO
Dr. Steve has always been a lover of sports. Before becoming a collegiate baseball pitcher, he was a key member of the ’05 USSSA 17U Championship-winning Ontario Blue Jays team.

He attended school on baseball and academic scholarships in both Kansas City, Missouri, and Tahlequah, Oklahoma. After experiencing the healing power of chiropractic for his own injuries, Dr. Steve transitioned his focus from dentistry to chiropractic care. His journey included working in two high-volume practices in Florida and Mississauga, where he refined his skills and developed a deep passion for working with families and newborns.
Dr. Steve earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma before graduating from Life University in Atlanta, Georgia, with his chiropractic degree.

As a Neurostructural Chiropractor, Dr. Bako integrates the principles of tonal neurostructural chiropractic with a broader understanding of his patient's overall well-being. This means he not only focuses on optimizing the spine and nervous system for improved tone and function, but also considers other contributing factors to health, such as lifestyle, nutrition, stress, and emotional well-being.

He is skilled in a variety of techniques, including toggle recoil, Thompson, Torque Release, and Webster, and takes a tonal approach to address the root causes of abnormal tension and tone in the spinal cord.
Dr. Bako is an active member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and the Alliance for Chiropractic.

When they're not working, he and his wife, Emily, enjoy travelling, exploring the local culinary scene and cheering on Toronto's sports teams.

It's a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together.

EMILY
Emily grew up in a small town north of Waterloo, and spending her summers exploring the woods around her family’s rustic cottage. Surrounded by farmland and forests, she developed a deep, lifelong love and appreciation for nature and wildlife.
While studying Psychology and Business at the University of Waterloo, Emily ventured into entrepreneurship by working in the "green pet" marketing sector and later spent several years in pet insurance. She then transitioned into a training and development role in the corporate world before deciding to join Steve in the practice.

Though Emily had never seen a chiropractor before meeting Steve, she had suffered from migraines for many years. Since maintaining regular chiropractic adjustments, she is now virtually migraine-free.

In addition to managing their busy family practice, Emily runs a small business of her own and is an herbalist and certified Reiki practitioner.

In her free time, she enjoys cooking, crafting, and gardening.

Wellness is the complete integration of body, mind and spirit- the realization that everything we do, think, feel and believe affects our state of well-being.

In Memory of BACHAESH
Bachaesh (meaning Buddy/Son) was Dr. Steve and Emily's beloved Yorkshire Terrier mix. He loved spending time outdoors and never passed up an opportunity to go kayaking, chase the squirrels and chipmunks, or go for a leisurely stroll to the park.
He spent several years accompanying Emily to her pet insurance job, pet industry events, and he was even featured in the Dogs of Oakville publication.
After having ACL surgery in 2023, Bachaesh learned the benefits of chiropractic care for himself. He attended regular chiropractic appointments with a certified DVM and animal chiropractor which helped his mobility and comfort immensely. Bachaesh was a regular attendee at our office. When he wasn't saying hi to our patients he could be found snoozing behind the front desk or in his favourite sunny spot on the floor. He passed away unexpectedly in October 2024 after a battle with mitral valve disease and hypothyroidism.
We miss him so much, but we are thankful for all the lessons and wisdom he shared with us, and for the beautifully rich memories and love that he gifted us every day.
